Hypertension and Lipid Clinic

The two major reversible risk factors for Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) and stroke are high blood pressure and cholesterol. Special emphasis is put on bringing the blood pressure below 135/85mmHg with a combination of non-pharmaco therapy (DASH Diet) and blood pressure medication..

The Lipid Clinic looks especially at the bad cholesterol LDL-C (The L for Lethal) and HDL-C (The H is for Healthy). The goal is to bring the LDL-C to target as per the Canadian guide lines for primary and secondary prevention.

The effect of risk factor control for preventing cardiac events is well documented and can be seen by clicking here on B.A.S.I.C. Treatment.
